Outstanding Person: Dr. Ana Nogales

She is the best-known psychologist in the U.S.A. She has written two books and is working on two more. She recently opened a play authored by her and she has had radio and television shows for 25 years and written countless articles directed to Latinos in regard to adapting to this country and daily conflicts.

Dr. Nogales immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1979 and earned her doctorate in psychology at the International University of San Diego. In 1982 she opened her private practice in Los Angeles and Orange County, supervising a clinical program dedicated to mental health. She founded Nogales Psychological Counseling, Inc. and she is the director of “Casa de Familia,” a nonprofit established for victims of crimes. She is president of ALMA (Association for Latino Mental Health Awareness) dedicated to combat the stigma of mental sickness; she also presides on the board for California’s Women’s Commission on Addictions; she is an active member of “Las Comadres para las Americas” and Women’s Transition Living Center. ...MORE

Regressive accounting to choose the Seven New Wonders of the World

The regressive accounting for the announcement of the Seven New Wonders of the World started on June 7, 2007
There were 21 world finalists wonders among which seven will be chosen, besides an honorary mention not to be voted on (the Egyptian pyramids), so that the remaining contest is among the remaining twenty, so in the end there will be eight world wonders.

The New World Wonder Foundation, based in Switzerland, announced it has received over 50 million votes by phone to finalize the list.

Votes on line and by phone were received until the last day of June 2007. The results will be announced on Saturday, July 7, 2007 (07/07/07) during a televised broadcast worldwide.
